Fashion Revolution Week with Rokit Vintage

Did you know today marks the final day of Fashion Revolution week?

If you're unfamiliar with Fashion Revolution, it's a week that raises awareness in creating a more sustainable fashion future. It's a widespread global movement that is designed to get the world asking #whomademyclothes and teaching us to recycle or repair old clothes rather than throwing them out to fill up limited landfills, which are polluting our Earth.

Everyone knows I'm a keen vintage and secondhand shopper, not only because I'm besotted with the 60s & 70s, but because it is a much more environment friendly way of shopping. One of my all time favourite vintage houses, Rokit, are at the forefront of the Fashion Revolution movement by promoting more sustainable ways of shopping. Buying vintage in particular means not only less textile waste, but it means recycling existing materials without creating new ones that use up valuable resources and energy.

Sustainable shopping isn't just limited to clothing either. When Rokit offered to send me a few sustainable, vintage pieces in celebration of Fashion Revolution week I absolutely had to have this huge, crochet blanket for my room. You may have seen from my recent homeware haul that I'm committed to shopping secondhand even when it comes to homewares.

I'm in the process of writing a little more content around vintage and secondhand shopping including its environmental benefits. In the meantime, why not take a moment to consider who made the clothes you're wearing right now. Have a look at the label and then research the production ethics of the company. Will it be something you wear for years to come or is it simply a fast fashion product that will be thrown out in a few months?
