Let's face it, there's definitely no shortage of beauty subscription boxes out there. But when I heard that TheVeganKind offer an entirely cruelty-free and vegan one, I was all ears! After all, there's no point in me investing in any other beauty boxes as the contents aren't always likely to be completely vegan or cruelty-free but TVK has filled the gap in the market for beauty junkies who don't want to contribute or fund any animal cruelty. Every two months they send subscribers box filled with a few surprise sample-sized and full-sized skincare and beauty treats from beauty companies with a conscious and focus on fighting the use of animal byproducts in the beauty industry. As well as their beauty box, The Vegan Kind also offer a 'Lifestyle' box filled with snacks and other vegan goodies.
The first product was a 30ml bottle of Tropika Coconut Cleansing Oil (RRP £4.00), which is a natural formula free of palm oil, parabens, SLS, microbeads and more. All ingredients are ethically sourced, their products are made in Malaysia and they have pledged to support the local communities with their sustainable virgin coconut oil. All sounds pretty good, right?
I was expecting a coconut smell when I opened the bottle but instead I was greeted with a much sweeter smell that is reminiscent of blackcurrants. Just add a few drops on your face and massage in with a little water to remove makeup and dirt from your face before rinsing with water. This nourishing oil is perfect for those that suffer with dry or combination skin.
Next up is Dr. Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil 15ml (RRP £29.90), which is once again 100% natural ingredients and is packed full of vitamins and minerals to even skin tone, brighten the skin and prevent skin damage.
It comes in a glass bottle with a pipet so you're able to carefully control the amount of oil you apply without wasting any of the product. It's pink in colour and has a sweet, floral smell as you'd expect from a rose product. A little definitely goes along way with this oil too and you only need a few drops per application. When applied to the skin, it sinks in pretty quickly even for someone with oily skin type like me. A full bottle of this product retails at just over £60, which I could personally never invest in without knowing it was going to work for me first as I don't have a disposable £60 to just throw away. This is one of the biggest benefits of The Vegan Kind; the ability to try out a product at a reduced price before you splurge on the full-size product.
A sample size 50ml tube of Umberto Giannini Mini Pool Proof Leave-in Hair Protection Cream (a full-size product is £8.00) was also included in June's box. I actually have the full-size product of this already but I've not had a chance to use it because I've not been on a holiday in recent months where there's been a swimming pool! However, for someone that usually travels hand-luggage only it's great that I now have a travel-sized product to take with me in my hand luggage.
Whilst I can't comment on how well the product does or doesn't work, it smells incredible and I swear by some of the other products in the range.
Eden Perfumes is a family-run, Brighton-based perfumes brand that are entirely vegan and cruelty-free. In this box, a sample size of their 'Million Dollar Lady' No. 78 perfume (RRP £7.20) is included. The scent is a combination of raspberry, floral and orange citrus. It's a gorgeous, fruity scent that would transition perfectly from day to evening.
I've always loved Spectrum Collections brushes so I was so excited to find a small fan brush (RRP £9.99) inside the June box. Not only are Spectrum brushes pretty to look at but they put a huge emphasis on being entirely vegan and cruelty-free. The bristles are super soft and it's perfect for adding highlighter onto cheek bones and applying product beneath the eyes.
The final product in the box was the Bloomtown 'Red & Buried' lip balm with organic cocoa butter (RRP £4.95). It's lightly tinted so when applied it leaves a wash of berry colour on your lips that still appears natural and is ideal for a low maintenance daytime look.
In total, the value of all of the products combined add up to over £60 so when you consider that a box starts from just £12.95 (+ £3.15 UK postage), you've definitely scored yourself a bargain. Boxes are delivered bi-monthly and no contract or commitment is involved meaning that you're free to cancel your subscription at any time!
